Hazardous Materials Labeling - CLP

The labeling of hazardous materials changed in 2015. The new CLP (Classification, Labeling, Packaging) regulation is more specific and introduces new pictograms and hazard classes. Regulations governing the labeling of hazardous products are therefore changing rapidly, requiring expert advice and thorough monitoring of technological developments.

Information that must appear on the label:

• The name, address, and phone number of the manufacturer, importer, or distributor,
• The name of the substance (and, if applicable, its form, concentration, etc.),
• The trade name and the hazardous component(s) if it is a preparation,
• The hazard symbol(s),
• The warning
  statement
• Hazard statements and precautionary statements,
• The phrase “Index No.” if it is a substance,
• The nominal quantity if the product is distributed to the general public,
• Additional information.

Label formats for hazardous materials are regulated: There are two types: CLP labeling and combined labeling, which includes both CLP labeling and hazardous materials transport labeling (ADR / IMDG / IATA).
