Gas Stations and Fueling Stations

Please note that gasoline has a much lower flash point than diesel fuel. In practical terms, this means that gasoline emits flammable vapors at room temperature. Any spark can therefore cause an explosion.

Therefore, only special Ex/ATEX-certified pumps should be used.

Under the ADR, gasoline (UN 1203) is classified as GE II and Category II. One consequence of this is that the exemption under the “1.1.3.6.” regulation is limited to 333 liters. Above this threshold, the transport of gasoline is subject to the full provisions of the ADR.

Aviation fuels such as jet fuel and avgas have an even more restrictive classification and therefore cannot be used at gas stations.
