For obvious safety reasons (fire, explosion, corrosion, poisoning), hazardous products of any kind must be handled and stored with the utmost care.

Current regulations:
Article R.5132-66 (formerly Art. 5162) of the Public Health Code (concerning toxic products): Toxic and highly toxic products must be stored in a specific, lockable area designated for that purpose.
Article R.5132-68 (formerly Art. 5170) of the Public Health Code and recommendations from the French National Institute for Industrial Safety and Health (I.N.R.S.) (concerning chemicals from different groups): Products that are incompatible with one another must be stored in separate cabinets or compartments.
DECREE OF FEBRUARY 2, 1998, ON CLASSIFIED FACILITIES (concerns polluting substances): Any substance likely to cause water or soil pollution must be contained in a retention system.
