Fûtstop: Securing Drums on Pallets for Safe Transport
Tested to EUMOS 40509 at 0.8 g for 500 ms – equivalent to emergency braking on the road as defined in EN 12195-1, the standard referenced by ADR
The Fûtstop range comes in 4 models – for 1, 2, 3 or 4 drums – for safe transport and handling.
Made from high-strength polypropylene, Fûtstop combines a perimeter strap with anchor points that tie it down to the pallet.
Thanks to its reusable buckle system, Fûtstop is fitted without tools on the 1- and 2-drum versions, and with a simple hand tensioner on the 3- and 4-drum versions.
Strap guides stop the straps from slipping on the curved sides of the drums, keeping the load secure throughout transport.
Its main use is securing drums to pallets for transport and handling, but Fûtstop also suits many other products that are hard to secure because of their round or irregular shape.
Fûtstop is also an ideal way to protect stored goods, work in progress and part-used pallets from dust and the weather.
Easy to reuse, it is perfect for safe transfers between workshops, shuttle runs and collections by recyclers.
Its low weight and effectiveness are also an advantage for small air freight shipments.
Load Securing Regulations / ADR
The European Best Practice Guidelines on Cargo Securing for Road Transport state in section 6.6 (page 62):
“Any means of securing the load to the pallet – such as lashing, shrink wrapping, etc. – may be used, provided that the loaded pallet can withstand a lateral tilt of at least 26° without significant signs of distortion.”
ADR (chapter 7.5.7.1) requires every carriage of dangerous goods to comply with these European Best Practice Guidelines on cargo securing.
In most cases, stretch-wrapping drums makes it difficult to meet the 26° tilt requirement.
Strapping is hard to do effectively: the straps slide easily along the curved sides of the drums and often work loose under the vibration and tilting of transport and handling. Extra straps, corner boards or special wedges are then needed, making the job slow and costly, with uncertain results.
Fûtstop fits in seconds, stops straps slipping on the curved surfaces and keeps drums secure during transport and handling, in line with the regulations.
It is also resistant to acids and most chemicals.
