UN 3H1 Plastic Jerricans for Dangerous Goods
ADR jerricans are used to transport dangerous liquids. Plastic jerricans carry the UN 3H approval code. They must also be chemically compatible with the contents, as required by ADR 4.1.1.21.
For most UN numbers, ADR specifies the standard liquid(s) the packaging must withstand. ADR lists five standard liquids: 55% nitric acid, water, acetic acid, hydrocarbon mixture (white spirit) and n-butyl acetate. For UN numbers without an assigned standard liquid, or for generic (n.o.s.) entries, refer to ADR 4.1.1.21.1 and 4.1.1.21.2.
For plastic jerricans, you must therefore check the packing group, the relative density of the contents, the vapour pressure and chemical compatibility. Contact us if in doubt.
